History of the hotelA twelfth-century priory in Pra-Loup
As early as the Middle Ages, around the twelfth century, Chalaisian monks from the Laverq founded several buildings on this site, including a priory, a church and a presbytery. That priory is now Hôtel Le Prieuré, in the heart of Pra-Loup.
Our storyFrom religious life to hotel
The priory was historically linked to Benedictine and Chalaisian institutions, notably the abbey of Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage, and helped shape local religious life.
Over the centuries, the site changed: the religious complex gave way to places of welcome and lodging, while keeping the stone architecture typical of the region.

The renovationA renovation driven by history and passion
When Sophie and Bruno discovered Le Prieuré in Pra-Loup, they fell under the spell of this building steeped in history and embarked on an ambitious project: to bring it back to life without losing its soul.
Over two years of renovation, the work became a true human adventure. Alongside the craftsmen, they took a hands-on part in the building work and chose to preserve as much of the original as possible. Old timber, stone and reclaimed or second-hand materials found a new place in the building, right down to some of the decoration and furniture.

The work followed the rhythm of the seasons, with all the constraints of the mountains: some tasks were carried out in the fine weather, while winter was devoted to other stages of the restoration.
Every choice was guided by the same aim: to respect the history of Le Prieuré while bringing it the comfort and elegance of a contemporary hotel. A patient, passionate restoration that today allows this historic building to write a new chapter in its story.
